DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for an Operations Manager in Tax to join our Tax Engine – PCS (Product Classification) Operations team in Bratislava, Slovakia as part of the Global Tax Calculation Services Program. This team plays a key role in defining the correct tax rate (sales tax, VAT, service tax, and other consumption taxes) of products Amazon is selling on its marketplaces and other e-commerce platforms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the team of product classification specialists and tax analysts, leading from the front ensuring team operational goals are met. This team ensures the global Amazon product catalogue is classified accurately from taxability perspective and according to the newest legislation. The Amazon marketplace is worldwide and all encompassing, where the successful individual will have the opportunity to innovate and automate to ensure consistent delivery.

Key job responsibilities
• Lead a team of Tax Analysts (8+) through the classification of the worldwide Amazon marketplace from a Tax perspective.
• Perform basic product taxability research across a wide range of categories- applying taxonomies and other classification structures while supporting the product tax classification team
• Participate in team operational excellence programs and process improvements, aiming for increased process automation and support of team KPIs.
• Maintain metrics and reporting for measuring process improvement, engaging with a global business team on delivery (Managers and Analysts in EU, US and CR).
• Discuss and drive individual and team development and performance metrics

Base pay for this position starts from EUR 3,340+ gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Company benefits apply subject to further terms, including annual membership in medical clinic, life insurance, retirement pension, meal voucher card, career development.

A day in the life
This is a data driven role, where the successful individual will be working with metrics daily, emulating high volumes of data through dashboards, evaluating, interpreting and presenting back to business on the classification of the various Amazon products from a tax perspective.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in people management in Operations environment, proven capability to motivate and develop teams to meet operational goals.
  • Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing high volume operational results data and feeding it back to business in a meaningful manner.
  • Experience in formulating business metrics for reporting
  • Able to make and drive fact-based decisions
  • Experience in the implementation and execution of department strategy and goals.
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in managing service delivery
  • Proven ability to create route cause analyses of issues
  • Evaluating KPI results and making data driven decisions to evaluate the business
  • Experience working in environments with aggressive deadlines and production environments
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, decisive, and self-motivated
  • Experience in the usage of Tableau , Quick sights and SQL
  • Can-do approach and results driven mindset
